SMACNA’s 2024 Annual Industry Labor Report has been released and is available for all SMACNA Members to view.
This report includes data from 28 local areas and finds that there was a 6.3 percent increase in work hours reported. The Southern region saw the largest percentage of increased hours reported followed by a modest increase in the Western and Midwestern regions. The Northeastern region saw a decline in work-hours reported.
Going into 2024, overall man-hours are predicted to increase by an average of 9.47% when compared to 2023 hours. Of the areas responding to the survey, 21% are projecting stable man-hours in 2024.
While the Western region is projecting a 19.8 percent increase of work-hours, the Northeast region is projecting a 2.9% increase in work-hours. The region with the largest projected decline is in the Midwestern region which is projecting an 11% decrease in work-hours. Declines of 4.3 percent are expected in the South.
