Introduced by Representative Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-20), H.R. 1869 now has 260 bipartisan cosponsors and awaits action in the Committee on Ways and Means.  A companion bill, S. 803, has been introduced in the Senate and has 56 cosponsors while pending action in the Senate Finance Committee.

H.R. 3079 has been reported from subcommittee to the Energy and Commerce Committee and awaits full Committee approval.  An identical Senate bill, S. 1706, introduced by Senators Gardner (R-CO) and Coons (D-DE) has been referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

H.R. 6800 – Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act

The House passed the $3 trillion coronavirus relief package despite opposition from most Republicans and some Democrats.  It now goes to the Senate where Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has indicated they will not take up new legislation until the effects of the CARES Act are determined to be insufficient in helping the economy.

H.R 6201 – The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)

Requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. The Department of Labor’s (Department) Wage and Hour Division (WHD) administers and enforces the new law’s paid leave requirements. These provisions will apply from the effective date through December 31, 2020.
