The SMACNA Safety Awards Program is designed to acknowledge and celebrate the commitment and inventive efforts of our members in providing a secure and conducive environment for their employees. It's not just about recognizing past accomplishments; it's about inspiring a future marked by a dedication to safety and health within the HVAC and Sheet Metal industry.
Any SMACNA member who submits a 2025 SMACNA Safety Survey is eligible to participate in the member safety awards program. In addition to the survey, the Safety Innovator of the Year Award requires an application process detailed below. The 2025 SMACNA Safety Survey closes on June 1, 2025.
There are two types of Safety Awards: Safety Achievement Awards and the Safety Innovator of the Year Award.
Top Safety Performer Award
An elite safety performer certificate will be provided for all members achieving an incident rate 50% better than the U.S. Department of Labor BLS incident rate for Sheet Metal Contractors in the U.S. and the adjacent rate for Canadian members.
Zero Injury and Illness Incidence Award
All members who demonstrate an outstanding safety record with zero reported incidences in 2023 will receive a certificate of safety excellence.
With the theme of “Safety Excellence Through Innovation,” this award is open to all SMACNA members who participate in the SMACNA Safety Excellence Awards program. In collaboration with SMACNA Premier Partners Milwaukee Tool and Federated Insurance, the award will be for the company that demonstrates an example of an innovative safety idea, concept, or best practice that statistically improved the company's safety program or culture.
