SMACNA Urges White House to Support The Great American Outdoors Act

SMACNA is asking President Donald Trump to support and sign H.R. 1957, The Great American Outdoors Act.  H.R. 1957 would cut the National Park Service’s (NPS) $12 billion repair backlog in half, address maintenance needs at other public land agencies, and provide dedicated annual funding to the Land and Water Conservation Fund.  The Administration has indicated support for this legislation and that the President will sign it into law once it passed Congress.

SMACNA Endorses S. 1841, The Financing Our Energy Future Act

In a recent letter, SMACNA urged the U.S. Senate to support S. 1841, The Financing Our Energy Future Act.  This important legislation would greatly expand financing options for energy saving performance contracting (ESPC), building retrofits, industrial market efficiency projects and combined heat, carbon capture and waste heat to power (CHP/WHP) systems.  S. 1841 simply expands the definition of “qualified” sources for MLP investments to include ESPCs, clean energy resources and a variety of infrastructure projects.

H.R. 3249 / S. 1841 - The Financing Our Energy Future Act

H.R. 3079 has been reported from subcommittee to the Energy and Commerce Committee and awaits full Committee approval.  An identical Senate bill, S. 1706, introduced by Senators Gardner (R-CO) and Coons (D-DE) has been referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

H.R 6201 – The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)

Requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. The Department of Labor’s (Department) Wage and Hour Division (WHD) administers and enforces the new law’s paid leave requirements. These provisions will apply from the effective date through December 31, 2020.
