Thomas Montgomery

44 years in the HVAC industry. Work experience includes design engineering assistant and commercial HVAC tech while working for MacDonald Miller Seattle. Owner/Partner in Macdonald Miller Alaska where I helped Local 23 in Anchorage develop their HVAC service program while recruiting and training entry-level technicians at MacDonald Miller Alaska. In 1992 I moved back to Washington State and started the service department for Johansen Mechanical in Woodinville, WA. This was a ground-up department build while also serving as a JATC subcommittee member in charge of developing a new curriculum for the Local 66 HVAC service program. Assisted with new recruitments for the program while working for Johansen Mechanical.

In 2000 I went back to MacDonald Miller as the service special projects supervisor and assisted with building up a 60 million dollar per year special projects department. Became a minority shareholder in MacDonald Miller Seattle in 2007 and became the Special Project Production Manager. In 2014 I took a position as the local General Manager for ACCO Engineered Systems Seattle Branch and was appointed the duties of rebranding ACCO in the Puget Sound Market and turning it from a financial drain to a legitimate profit center. Grew the local branch from 5 technicians to 24 technicians before departing in 2022. Assisted with the acquisitions in Seattle and the development of the projects team which was generating over 50 million in annual revenue.

In 2022 I took one step towards retirement and accepted a position as a strategic executive for Hermanson Company in Kent, WA. This position allows me to mentor and train up and coming service leaders all while assisting with managing two of their largest service accounts

Teaching experience includes teaching for Local 23, Local 66, Central Washington University (off-site HVAC courses), and on oil rigs for Marathon Oil in Cook Inlet Alaska.

Current executive board member and Past President for Smacna Western Washington. Retired Board member and management chair for Western Washington Sheet Metal Local 66 JATC.

Married 29 years to Rebecca Montgomery. One son and one daughter who reside in Texas and New York

When not working I enjoy my time in my shop building performance engines, race cars, and street rods. I was an active drag racer and ran in the NHRA Division 6 circuit for years before taking up car shows and recreational cruises with my wife as we both enjoy the design and build process with our car projects at home. We also enjoy our time traveling and spending time with family members and close friends.
