Projects today are moving at ever-increasing paces, and the urgency to streamline communication between the field, shop, and office has never been higher. The risks of broken or lagging communication are apparent: poor productivity, high trucking costs, and constantly being in “React Mode.” Luckily, the advancement and accessibility of technology is providing an answer. The contech industry is booming – an estimated $5.4B was invested in construction technology in 2022. Leveraging cloud and mobile applications, the contech boom is transforming time-consuming, paper-based workflows to digital workflows that lend themself to enhanced communication for greater accuracy and efficiency. But to be impactful, this emerging technology needs to be quickly adopted across the organization, including by field and shop mechanics.
This session will explore the challenges confronting sheet metal contractors today and discuss the standards that sheet metal contractors should consider when taking steps to improve their shop and job site operations. From streamlining ticket fittings to better materials management and analyzing shop run rates, we’ll focus on simple and scalable principles that sheet metal contractors can deploy to implement technology and ultimately mitigate risk, increase project efficiency, and pivot their workforce to “Proactive Mode.”
