In a significant step towards advancing safety and professional growth within the unionized sheet metal industry, SMACNA is pleased to announce Shante Fox, President of Lake Town Mechanical, LLC, as the recipient of the first annual SMACNA/BE4ALL Safety Sponsorship—an opportunity for a member to attend the prestigious National Safety Council (NSC) Safety Congress & Expo. This century-old event will grant Shante unparalleled access to cutting-edge technologies, educational resources, and an opportunity to network with pioneers in the safety industry.

The Safety Sponsorship program is a collaborative endeavor between SMACNA's Safety and Health Committee and BE4ALL. It underscores the industry's unwavering commitment to fostering a workforce that thrives on the exchange of knowledge, inclusion, and advancement while offering a valuable opportunity to a deserving SMACNA member who aligns with the vision and goals of the BE4ALL initiative.

Shante's designation as the winner of the Safety Sponsorship is a testament to her dedication to elevating safety standards and advocating for a secure work environment. As a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) mechanical contractor in Utah, she aims to raise awareness among women, LGBTQ individuals, and other underrepresented groups about the inclusive and safety-focused nature of the sheet metal industry.

Shante reflected on the recognition, "I am honored to be a part of the Safety Sponsorship Program and look forward to attending the National Safety Council Safety Congress & Expo. This experience will bring me a great deal of information that I can share with my team and industry to further the inclusion and advancement of safety. I believe that when we focus on safety for everyone, our industry becomes stronger; I am proud to be a part of its growth."

Shante will present her experiences from the (NSC) Safety Congress & Expo to the SMACNA Safety and Health Committee during their winter meeting in line with her program commitment. Her insights and feedback will play a pivotal role in guiding them through the pilot year and shaping the future of the Safety Sponsorship program.
