Department of Energy Providing $46 Million for Energy Retrofit Projects

The Buildings Energy Efficiency Frontiers and Innovation Technologies (BENEFIT) funding opportunity designed to promote building electrification and improved energy efficiency throughout the United States.

The Department of Energy is releasing $46 million worth of new funding to promote building retrofits to improve overall building efficiency. The Buildings Energy Efficiency Frontiers and Innovation Technologies (BENEFIT) is designed to enable projects that will increase energy savings through enhanced building electrification.

According to DOE, residential and commercial buildings are the largest energy-consuming sector of the U.S. economy, responsible for approximately 40% of the nation’s energy consumption and 74% of its electricity use.
