SMACNA is proud to promote a collaborative program that matches American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) with SMACNA contractors for a 2021 summer internship. This effort pairs an interested architecture student with a SMACNA contractor for an internship where the student will gain exposure to contractor operations and processes including sheet metal design and fabrication, as well as construction and installation. Initially targeted toward architectural metals contractors, the program is now available to any SMACNA contractor willing and able to provide the needed work experience.
There are already students applying for the program with SMACNA and these architecture “licensure candidates” need experience credits through the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®), as explained in the Architecture Student Internship Guide for SMACNA Members.
This exciting joint venture raises the awareness of sheet metal and HVAC with a goal of developing “better architects” with increased understanding of the sheet metal and HVAC industry. The partnership provides your company with an opportunity to influence architecture students and help them better understand and promote our industry through positive interactions gained through real-life learning experiences.
Please take a moment to review the program information and submit your profile to participate in this beneficial initiative. To have AIAS match a student to your company, you will need to complete your profile and submit it to AIAS using the online AIAS + SMACNA Internship Program form.
